  • Regularly provides training for NQTs and new staff members to inform of school assessment processes and expectations.

  • Regularly attends national conferences to keep abreast of updates to accountability nationally and share good practice with a wide network of schools.

  • Qualified to MSc level in Analytical Chemistry, had previously worked in the semiconductor industry for 10 years.

Priscilla Boonin

SPECIALISM: HUMANITIES, RE AND DEI

Priscilla is the Humanities, RE and DEI lead at Randal Cremer Primary School. She is passionate about creating an environment where all children feel seen and heard.

Priscilla has created a unit of work to celebrate the contribution of the Windrush Generation, as part of Hackney’s Diverse Curriculum, ‘The Black Contribution’. She enjoys collaborating with others to raise the profile of DEI work.

Priscilla has expertise in:

  • Supporting EYFS to Year 6 With ways to embed diversity and inclusivity in Humanities

  • Helping to plan an Anti-Racist curriculum across her school

  • Creating and leading Black History Month and International Evening celebrations

  • Supporting with the Black History Month exhibition at Hackney Museum

  • Network building with local museums

  • Working with Early Career Teachers to develop their subject knowledge

  • Planning and delivering CPD for Humanities and an Anti-Racist curriculum

Tom Walker

Specialism: Food Education and Cooking Curriculum

Tom is the Head Food Educator at Hackney School of Food, a designated food education hub that's part of the LEAP Federation. He has worked in food education for over 6 years. With a background in restaurant and development kitchens, he built on this culinary and technical knowledge and became the Head Teaching Chef at The Jamie Oliver Cookery School, where he developed, delivered and oversaw the provision of adult and children's cookery lessons. He has been Head Food Educator at Hackney School of Food since its opening, and designed the food & cookery curriculum from scratch for primary education.

He believes that a full seed to spoon experience can be built from a simple window box of herbs, with a few key pieces of equipment all the way up to a fully kitted out teaching kitchen. Learning about food can be a gateway to any other subject: from maths and science, through to cultural history and literature, Tom can work with subject leads to design a food experience to suit the needs of the topic. Tom has expertise in:

  • Developing the food & cookery curriculum across Primary Education 

  • Combining key nutritional information with technical cookery skills in an engaging environment 

  • Developing bespoke cookery lessons & food experiences to tie in with other curriculum subjects 

  • Budgeting food education lessons

  • Providing training and coaching for staff to upskill culinary knowledge and how to deliver lessons in an engaging way

  • Setting up the logistics and delivery of online cookery lesson provision

  • 'Seed to spoon' education - combining growing and gardening with cookery lessons
